The Perth Military Settlement, founded in 1816, became the model for disbanded British Military units. Sitting on the banks of the Tay River, connected to the Rideau Canal, the Town guards and maintains its rich heritiage, history and community spirit.
Perth restored its official Town Crier in 2005. The current Town Crier, Brent McLaren, maintains a busy schedule of local appearnaces as well as discussing the history and music of the Town.
The NATCC took place in Ingersoll Ontario from August 25-27, 2006. In total 27 criers arrived and competed in a three-cry competition. We were well hosted by Ingersoll and thanks has to go to Doug Turvey (Ingersoll's Crier) and the organizing committee.
